Linda and I did ALOT of work on Friday, getting the shop ready for the weekend and First Friday (which was later that evening -- lots of people downtown). The weather was beautiful, we had the door open all day except when we went to lunch at Lightfoot -- a real sit-down, with fried green tomatoes and everything! Then it was back to the shop to get ready for First Friday (for more information on First Friday click here) -- here are some pics of the shop.

P.S. There is also LOTS of new stuff, as you can see from the photos!!

hersheypark in the dark...

After all the trick-or-treating on Friday evening, Linda (and Marty) got in the car and drove the kids to Hersheypark! They stayed at the Hershey lodge for a couple of nights, had breakfast with the characters (Carter DID NOT like this), visited Hershey Gardens and went to the park. The kids (including Linda and Marty) had so much FUN!

Thought I would share some pictures with you -- enjoy!

LOTS more to come!

sweet sixteen...

I can't believe it -- KRISTIN is 16!!!

I don't know where the time goes, she is going to be a junior this year and the next thing you know she'll be headed off to college -- I'm so not ready for that. Well, this year I decided to give Kristin a big surprise and in my usual fashion started planning this whole thing days before (I've decided I work well this way, guess I just love stress -- or there is something really wrong with me!).

Anywho, I decided to rent a limo -- to do what I wasn't sure -- then it all started coming together. A treasure hunt! With clues provided by me in 16 envelopes (and if you know me, then you know they couldn't just be plain white envelopes -- as if the stress of all this planning wasn't enough!). On the morning of the big day I ended up taking her to the doctor and to get xrays (sprained her ankle at soccer the night before -- geez this really wasn't in my plans for the day!! I still had much work to do). So here goes, I told Kristin that her "Pa" wanted to take her to dinner for her birthday and would be here at 5 o'clock and when she went outside there it was a white stretch limo.

I got inside to ride with her to the first destination, with the first clue: Some girls have all the _____? If If you find this location you might just find "some girlfriends!" So we arrive at the outlet mall, find the Juicy store, find 3 of her 4 friends (other one met us later) and her new Juicy purse containing the rest of the clues! At this point, my cousin Christy met me there and we headed off to the next destination to drop off more goodies.

Each envelope contained a clue -- some with gift cards (so her girlfriends could get coffee while she was getting a makeover), some with money so they could ride the "Island Carousel" Towards the end of their shopping spree I had her go to Ritz camera and pick up an envelope (which contained a picture of her boyfriend) and directed her to where he would be waiting -- he even had 16 roses (how sweet!).

This is the picture I had waiting.

Then they picked up something to eat on the way to their final destination -- home. To eat, watch movies and have cake. WOW -- glad that day is over.

I think they all had fun, even Kyle -- when the limo dropped them off I had him take Kyle and I for ride around the neighborhood, he really liked it.

And here is my mess -- I was still decorating these envelopes like 30 minutes before the limo got here!!

happy first birthday to michael...

Michael turns 1!!
Happy Birthday Michael -- isn't he too cute!

We celebrated Aunt Nancy's birthday on Saturday out in Berryville at Mike and Bonnie's -- lots of fun!

There was food, cake (notice Quinn's finger in the bottom of the picture!), presents, swimming, kids playing basketball and softball, roasting marshmallows, fireworks, swinging, cow watching -- what a great day!

Thought I'd share a few pics! Look at the view from the back porch.

can you spell stress...

Well, its been a while since my last post -- we have been super busy! The shop had a great week, LOTS of furniture came and went (barely got it off the truck!) so we had to do lots of moving and re-decorating. Its still not quite right, but we are going on vacation -- TOMORROW. I've been running around all day getting ready and I am exhausted!!

I couldn't leave without putting up a few pictures of all the great stuff that came and went, some is still there. I have alot more to show you but I am too tired, so you'll have to wait until we return!

oops...

It's been a while since my last post -- it has been so HOT! My daughter had two soccer games this past weekend and then we have been doing soccer tryouts this week -- Thursday is the last tryout! Then hopefully we (she) will get a well deserved break! (A special note is that her team won their division this season and will be moving up to division 2 -- this is really BIG news -- guess all that work has paid off!)

hot, hot, hot...

The weather outside is frightful -- but the chick shop is so delightful!!

WOW is it ever HOT! I cannot believe how hot it is today -- but the shop sure is cool. We have made lots of changes and unpacked some boxes of "good junque" from the auction, so if you'd like to take a break from the heat just stop by and see us, we will be open extra late tonight (the car show is in town).

I'm at home of course recovering from my daughter's soccer game (yes, she played in the awful heat), I can't imagine how she must feel -- but they did win :) We have one more game tomorrow to finish off the season and its supposed to be just as hot. Oh well, I'm still working on my "soccer" mom tan.

See you soon -- stay cool!!

i'm still seeing red...

Here is the second part of the "i saw red" -- some more things from the shop.

i saw red...

Sara over at Sadie Olive had a great idea to start the "I saw red" photo theme for this week, June 2nd - 8th -- the idea being to take photos of RED things in your home, daily life or shop and upload them to your blog for the week.

whistle while you work...

On Friday -- all "chicks" were on deck moving, decorating, hanging, moving and did I say moving...

There have been quite a few sold items, leaving too much of a mess! We spent ALL day Friday moving things around. Here are a few pictures -- next time I'll have to take some "before" shots so you can really appreciate how much work we really did.

some vintage finds just for you...

Here are some pictures of things Linda found at auction -- some things are still in the boxes! There are lots of things not pictured so please stop in and see us!

happy birthday linda...

If you are familiar with our family you must know that the beginning of June marks the official "gift-giving" month, everytime you turn around someone is getting older! Linda, Carter, Marty, Kevin, Kyle, Yvonne -- throw in a wedding anniversary and father's day... Hope I'm not forgetting anyone.

Anyway, I went over to Linda's yesterday to help her celebrate her birthday, I made our famous chef boyardee "stinky" pizza, played with the kids, took some pictures of her beautiful flowers and those cute kids (notice how there are never any adults in these pictures!) and gave Linda her present -- her very own copy of her new favorite movie "The Holiday" (we just love this movie!). Linda gave Michael a bowl of water to splash around in and did he ever have fun. Oh well, enough talking here are a few pics.

more family pictures...

happy birthday quinn...

We all gathered at Mom's on Saturday to help Quinn celebrate his 5th birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUINN!

The food was good, the weather was beautiful and the birthday boy was VERY happy! Quinn was very excited that he got to go for a car ride with Uncle Kevin and Kristin before opening presents.

i'm back...

Sorry for the delay -- I had a really bad week!

Someone broke in to my car and stole some change, my digital camera (my life!!) and a few other small things -- one good thing is they didn't take my wallet so I didn't have to replace my license or credit cards.

I just want to say one thing, what would possess a person to do this? The small amount of money that they got is not such a big deal, the camera is replaceable (though not something I was looking to replace quite yet), but the pictures I had on my memory stick -- they are irreplaceable!! I had just went to my nephew's (Quinn) little graduation ceremony the day before and I had the best pictures, I am really sad that I won't be able to share those with you. Why would I leave that camera in the car -- what was I thinking!!

Oh well, life goes on! The police came and took all the information, filed a report -- nothing much they can do.
However, I did go out and get a new camera -- I wanted one that would take good close-up pictures so I wandered into the backyard to see all the pretty flowers and use my new macro lens. I took lots of pictures to see how it would work, here are a few. What do you think?
